Misty Simpson

Misty Simpson, RN, is accustomed to caring for others, not the other way around. But in 2017, the then 34-year-old nurse, wife and mother of two was diagnosed with breast cancer, and her world was turned upside down.  

“I was shocked and scared when I was diagnosed with breast cancer, but the doctors and nurses made me feel like everything was going to be OK,” she said. “They made a bad experience much, much better.” 

Misty is grateful for the compassionate care she received, especially from Dr. Peter Locken, MD. The radiation oncologist at Baptist Health Paducah was personable and comforting, she said, “and we really bonded throughout my treatment.” 

I became very close with so many people at Baptist, it was a difficult time, but I really looked forward to seeing them. Everyone was so good to me.
