The pandemic has reminded Sandy Phelps to be grateful for the little things — “such as eating in a restaurant” — as well as the most important parts of life. “I’m grateful for my family, in particular my parents. I’m grateful I can spend time with them. I’m grateful God allows me to wake up every day.” 

The Baptist Health Auxiliary Hardin volunteer has been proud to give back during these challenging times, whether that’s by donating to the COVID-19 Emergency Assistance Fund or by working in the hospital gift shop. “When nurses enter the gift shop, they are greeted with a smile and you know they are grateful for a change of scenery,” she says. “It feels good to know the small part I am playing to help frontline employees escape if for only a few minutes.”
